Events

GPHA serves as a resource center and professional development advocate for all of its members. We host several networking, fundraising, and motivational events throughout the year for members to participate in. Become a member today to be kept abreast of all upcoming events.

“Heart of Philadelphia ” Luncheon

Every winter GPHA hosts its big event. Established in 1992, The Heart of Philadelphia Award celebrates an individual or organization that has had a significant and positive impact on the city's tourism and hospitality industries in the preceding year.

Golf Outing - Mike Boyle Scholarship

Each spring, GPHA offers the opportunity for individuals to meet, mingle, and golf with General Managers and Department Heads from the many hotels and businesses in the Philadelphia area. A portion of the proceeds benefits the Michael M. Boyle Scholarship program. Scholarships are awarded at our “Heart of Philadelphia” luncheon held in December to deserving high school and college students pursing a hospitality career.

“Stars of the Industry” Awards Program

An awards program where we recognize and honor the “Best of the Best” of our member hotels STAR employees and hotel programs.

Hospitality Trade Show

Members-Only: This event provides an exclusive opportunity for Allied members to network with and present their services to hotel members in an intimate setting.

“Our Philadelphia ” Guest Services Training

An interactive and fun training program geared towards educating front-line staff on Philadelphia and its suburbs, keys to success of teamwork and the personal reward that comes with providing exceptional service to hotel clientele.

Hotel Olympics

A motivational event designed to match member hotels from Philadelphia, New Jersey, the Suburbs, Airport, and Northeast against one another in friendly competition in various events.

Networking Receptions and Events

Meet and talk with the hotel and allied members at many GPHA sponsored receptions and events held throughout the year, including two special receptions specifically designed for Allied members.

Hospitality Education Day

In partnership with the Philadelphia Multicultural Affairs Congress we host a half-day program for high school students that educates and alerts Philadelphia 's future workforce of various career opportunities in the hospitality, travel and food service industries.

Alex's Lemonade Stand Weekend

GPHA and the hotel community participate in Alex's Lemonade Stand Weekend, typically the second weekend in June, in the region by setting up stands in and around our hotel properties to raise money towards pediatric cancer research at Children's Hospital of Philadelphia.

Softball League

A fun and competitive inter-hotel softball league held from May through September.

Bowling League

Another opportunity to network and get to know your peers of the hospitality industry. The bowling league is held in the fall.
