Become part of the Delaware Valley Hotel Community
GPHA is the voice of Delaware Valley 's hotel industry; become part of that voice by participating in meetings on topics that are important to your hotel such as room and occupancy tax, gaming, and other hospitality issues. Every General Manager from GPHA member hotels are part of the GPHA Board of Directors.
Representation in other Delaware Valley hospitality organizations
GPHA has representation on other hospitality boards such as the Philadelphia Convention and Visitors Bureau, The Greater Philadelphia Tourism and Marketing Corporation, and the Taxi Cab Advisory Committee. Members have input through the GPHA representatives on those boards.
Industry Lobbying Efforts
GPHA writes Position Statements on items that affect the regions hospitality industry and distributes the statements to law makers and the media. Recently, GPHA has taken positions on casino placement in Philadelphia , Pennsylvania Convention Center Expansion, and taxi cab reform. All members can voice opinions on the GPHA Position Statements.
Information on labor/management issues
The Human Resources Committee shares information on labor and management issues. GPHA Member HR Directors can participate in the Human Resource Committee.
GPHA Supplier Member Discounts
The Allied Members sometimes offer discounts to GPHA member hotels. These discounts save hotels on supplies and services which are offered by over 100 Allied Members of GPHA.
Events and Team Building Exercises
GPHA members can participate in the many different events throughout the year. The events are a great team building and employee morale booster. Events include Hotel Olympics, Alex's Lemonade Stand, Stars of the Industry, a bowling league, and the ultra competitive softball league. Access to GPHA Lodging Reports
GPHA partners with the Philadelphia Convention and Visitors Bureau and the Greater Philadelphia Tourism and Marketing Corporation on the Monthly Snapshot Report. The Snapshot breaks down occupancy by segment each month and emailed to participating hotels. GPHA also produces an Annual Lodging Report which provides occupancy data for the year and projects the next five years. This report is used by many hotels during budgeting time.
Networking
GPHA members have several opportunities for networking at GPHA meetings and events. General Managers as well as other hotel managers get to know their peers at other hotels throughout the Delaware Valley.
Education and Training
GPHA offers a wide range of training programs to include AH & LA Educational Institute courses, First Aid and CPR courses, and ServSafe training at reduced member rates. For a complete list of available courses click here.
Special Services
GPHA offers members special services such as the GPHA Wage Survey, CPR/First Aid Courses, access to the GPHA Job Bank, Notary Public as well as other services that are provided based on need. These services are offered to all members who wish to participate.
