Federal Minimum Wage Increase
Time to redecorate the employee break room! The third and final phase of the federal minimum wage is $7.25 per hour as of July 24, 2008. To comply with the U.S. Department of Labor (DOL) regulations governing the wage increase, all employers that hire workers subject to minimum wage provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act must display posters explaining the wage increase. The posters must be hung in a conspicuous place, and businesses should allow their employees to read the notice. Copies of the poster are available here.

Call to Action on State Budget For Tourism
GPHA Members Need to Contact State Legislators. Now is the time for the tourism industry to contact all 253 members of the General Assembly and urge them to RE-ESTABLISH TOURISM FUNDING AT THE ORIGINAL 2008-09 FY LEVELS IN THE 2009-10 FY. Last week, a Republican-crafted $27.3 billion alternative to Governor Ed Rendell's $29.0 billion budget proposal passed the Senate. We began operations at 7am on Sunday, 11/1 and were able to add an additional 15 employees to our District talent pool of 250+ hard working, dedicated, and hospitality trained associates. With the addition of the Four Seasons Hotel Philadelphia, we now provide services to 13 Philadelphia area hotels, 3 hospitals, and the Ritz Carlton Residences. Towne Park as a company now operates in 42 cities around the country, providing hospitality and parking solutions to hotels, hospitals, residences, and casinos.
